What is the sponsorship program?
At BMIS we offer a Sponsorship Program for young blind or visually impaired girls who otherwise may never receive an education. The girls come from all over Bangladesh. Religion is no barrier to admission. 100% of your sponsorship goes to the support your sponsored girl. We make that promise*. Sponsor-a-girl helps a child in need. When you sponsor a blind or visually impaired girl, you help provide essentials like love, shelter, nutritious food, education and more. All with the goal of helping your sponsored child and their community break free from the stigma of being blind.

What if I cannot commit to £35 a month?
Don't worry, we are grateful to receive any amount however small. Your gift will contribute towards the sponsorship of a poor blind or visually impaired girl still. You will still receive regular updates and news of how the school is making a difference in the lives of the girls, their families and communities. By sponsoring a child, you get to watch the impact of your donation on both that girl and on their community. Why Sponsor-a-girl through BMIS?
Sponsoring a girl through BMIS is unique because we specifically take the poorest blind and visually impaired girls through your generosity. You will receive regular news stories and updates from BMIS and you may even visit the school, but we don’t just give sponsored children your cash. Instead, we pool the monthly sponsorship donations and leverage them for maximum impact within the school and it's programmes.
How long is my commitment?
When you sponsor-a-girl, you get the chance to create a long-term difference for a child in need. You can of course cancel at any time or you may continue your sponsorship for as long as your wish.
Will the sponsored girls be Christian?
Possibly, however Bangladesh is a predominantly Muslim country and we want to remove barriers from the girls. We take great care to show God’s love in culturally appropriate ways, and serve every child we can of any faith or none. It is a great opportunity to live out our faith.
How will we communicate?
We are a small concern and want every penny to count. With this in mind we are using technology to keep costs down. We will produce e-magazines that will be sent directly to your inbox. Any letters that the girls write or images they create we will also send electronically straight to your inbox. We will of course translate into English what the girls write or tell us so you can understand everything clearly. When you send messages we can translate into Bangla what you want to tell them. Much of the communication will be via the staff or our volunteers as many girls have no sight.
We have a manageable number of girls needing sponsorship so the communications should be smooth.
